Hey everyone. I know I'm not one to do these kinds of journals but...this is something I believe is worth mentioning.
[link] That is a link to part one of the Ed, Edd, and Eddy Movie. Something that I believe won't be shown on the American Cartoon Network. The movie aired in Scandinavia on May 31, 2009, Australia on June 5, 2009 and Southeast Asia on June 13, 2009. Why it hasn't show in America could only be attributed to the fact that American CN sucks BALLS now. @_@ Anyone who knows me knows my incredible hatred for CN Real, Andrew WK and the retards running Cartoon Network Studios.
My thoughts on the movieIt was...well, I know this may sound cheesy. But I found it perfect, endearing and an incredibly satisfying ending to a very big part of my childhood. To know why, you'd have to know my history with the show. Not very important to you, maybe, but important enough for me to want to write it and let that part of my childhood happily rest in peace:
I remember back in 1999, I was in my fathers apartment, and not used to watching tv by myself, I asked my dad what I could watch. He turned on Cartoon Network, and lo-and-behold: Ed, Edd and Eddy, Episode 1 "The Ed-Touchables". Right on the scene where Eddy is interrogating Plank with a water gun.
I remember watching this show and laughing my little 5 year old guts out. A show with traditional hand drawn "Squiggle-Vision" and some of the best slapstick since The Three Stooges, I was in heaven. I laughed at Ed's non-sequitor "I LOVE TOAST" barkings and Eddy's incredibly satisying-for-a-kids-show greed, and lack of ever learning a lesson. I especially loved Double-D's big words that I never understood, and his penchant for Cleanliness.
I watched this show every possible time I could, recording them on tapes (which are sadly, lost to me now, including those fun bumpers with the animated characters doing funny stuff, like CN USED to be famous for.) and drawing them all the time. They were the first characters I ever drew on paper.
Yes, Ed, Edd and Eddy is what made me want to be a cartoonist in the first place. After watching it a few times, I told my dad, "Dad! I wanna do stuff like that!" he said, "You want to get trapped in a pool with two boys and no clothes?" I said, "No! I wanna do cartoons!" Thereby, dashing my father's hopes of me ever playing on the Boston Red Sox.
After 130 episodes, and 4 specials, I finally got to see this long awaited movie that I'd actually been keeping track of. And all of my hopes for the movie, all of the things I wish would happen...
Well, they all did, and more. I won't spoil anything, just in case a fan of the show might be reading this, but I will say this. The ending is satisfying and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Thank you Danny Antonucci for this piece of my childhood that I will never forget.
Peace.
